Optimism Second Airdrop
Optimism – the Layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution has launched its second airdrop to users of the platform. The first batch of its airdrops was in May 2022 when it distributed 5 percent of its total coin supply. There is a huge chance that you will be eligible for this batch if you got it the last time.
Eligibility Criteria
The Snapshot was taken on Jan 20, 2023, at 0:00 UTC and the eligibility criterion were as follows:
- Addresses that have delegated the voting power of their OP tokens (if you got in the airdrop 1, you probably did this)
- Addresses that spent more than $6.10 on gas since March 25, 2022 — the average cost of a transaction on Ethereum L1.
The OP tokens have already been sent to the eligible wallets. You do not need to perform any task or connect your wallet to any site to claim the tokens as was the case in Airdrop 1.
What do You need To Do?
Do nothing. The tokens were sent directly to the eligible wallets. You can check and scan your wallet on the optimism explorer at

How Many Tokens Were Distributed?
The number of tokens distributed varied from wallet to wallet depending on the level of engagement of the wallet. But in total, 11.7m OP were distributed across 300k unique wallets (averaging 37.3 OP). As with the first airdrop, there were multipliers that resulted in some persons having significantly more tokens.
In comparison, Airdrop 1 distributed over 200m OP tokens to about 250k unique wallets. That is about 1/20 in terms of volume. So far, OP has distributed about 5.27 percent of its initial supply through various platforms that support or are related to it.
Beware of Scams
Beware of scams. There are no special provisions to claim OP tokens. All eligible wallets received their airdrop 2 at about 19:00 GMT on February 9, 2023, and were completed in the hours following.

The team is committed to airdropping 19 percent of the total initial token supply for Airdrops. So far, less than 6 percent has been distributed.
